  1. Review of Meeting Minutes: USA Meeting Minutes from May 21st were reviewed.  Karen made a motion to accept the minutes as they are and Andy seconded it.
  2. Registrar’s report (Karen Selwyn): Registration There will be open registration at Urbana Fire Hall on June 22nd and June 29th Andy will help on the 22nd and David will be available to help on the 29th.  As of today there are 191 players registered.
  3. Treasurer’s report (Al Selwyn):  Al reported that at the present time we have a balance of $3700.00 in our treasurer. The trophy and balls were paid for in the amount of $2064.00 and the tournament fees were $3015.00. We still will have outstanding bills for newsletters, postage and some small misc. items.  We are still on track to finish the season with a balance around $3,000.00.
  4. Coaches Education (David Ward):  There will be a D license class at Hood college from July 4th – 7th if interested please call Linda Craig at 410-987-7898.  Looks like as of now Bob and Cliff have already signed up. There will be a National C license class (this is if you are interested in coaching the High School level) on August 4th – 12th at the Soccer Plex if interested please call Linda Craig at 410-987-7898.  Urbana High School Soccer will sponsor a NSCAA State/Regional Course at Urbana High School on August 17th – 18th if interested please let David know.

  1. Coaches Night):  There will be a coaches night at the Urbana Park tentative date will be on Thursday August 1st at 7:00pm.  We will cover dribbling maneuvers and turns.
  2. Field Maintenance (David Ward):  Looks like the old hill will be ready in the fall for U-8 games only this will not be a practice field at this point.
  3. Newsletter update/status (Carole Thompson):  The newsletters were sent out to all members we would like to say a big thank you to Carole. Remember if you have anything you want in the upcoming Newsletters please let Carole know. We hope to have our next issue out some time in August or September.
  4. Indoor Soccer:  Skip Chamberland from the Goal is planning on holding some indoor summer camps.  If you are interested please contact Skip at the Goal for more information.
  5. Fields Coordinator/Committee:  We are running out of practice fields.  Looks like we should be ok in the fall.  However, the spring will be a problem if we keep growing at the rate we are growing now.  We need to form a committee to go out and search for practice fields soon.  If we continue at the pace we are at now and with the space we have now we will have to cut down on the practice nights for teams to practice.  We don’t really want to do that.  We need to start looking into possible business and new parks.  We will check out the new Oakdale Schools to get in there before anyone else does.  Andy will be the contact person for this.  If you have any ideas please act on them and then get back to Andy with results.

  1. Spring 2002 Wrap-up:  David reported that the season went very well.  There were no parent complaints, which is great.

  1. Tournaments (David Ward):  MAYAA U8- June 8th, Loveless’s U-8 took first place.  Chevy Cup- June 8th USA entered nine teams.  Max’s U-14 girls and David’s U-14coed took first places in their divisions.  Chevy Cup is suppose to refund the USA $40.00 for each team entered.  If you have entered your team and did not get your reimbursement check from Al please contact him ASAP.

  1. Evaluations:  Evaluation week is finally over.  It went very well except for the weather conditions.  Thanks to all who helped.

  1. Bylaws: Discussion tabled until our July meeting.

  1. Sponsor Money: We are planning on having a few major expenses.  1.  Sod goalie boxes on upper field $1200.00, 2.   Planning on buying new U-8 game goals (6 x 12) $1400.00.  3.  Set of portable goals $915.00 plus shipping. 4.  Second shed if approved $1500.00.  David reported that we need to have 18 sponsors at $500.00 each.  If you know anyone who has the desire to become a sponsor of the USA have them contact Becky Ward (301-865-4600).  Sponsorship fees are $500.00 and are due in full before the start of the fall season.  Sponsors will get the benefit of having their name printed on the shirts of a team, they will have advertisement on the USA website as well as in our newsletter.

  1. Awards:  Service awards for long terms members were discussed.  David will come up with a list.  Those who don’t already have jackets will receive one.

  1. New Business:  The merchandise order will be sent in around the 10th of July.  Please get your entire equipment request in to David ASAP.  The coaches Shirts were taken out of the fall budget this topic will be discussed again in the spring. Al  brought up having some type of scholarship program.  This will be put on the agenda for the next meeting
