Vice President’s Report: (Andy Keen) Andy Keen not present

Secretary’s Report: (Donna Pike) Nothing to report.

Coaches Education:  (David Ward) The Maryland Pepsi Pride Elite Women's Soccer Team is sponsoring an MSYSA E-License coaching course at the Southeast Area Recreation Center in Dundalk, Md. the weekend of December 13 and 14. The course will be conducted by Mike Sidlak who trained the Pride for their Women's Premier Soccer League 2003 season.
The cost of the course is $55. Coaches taking the course must pre-register prior to December 1 with the Maryland Pepsi Pride by calling 410-729-1100, or e-mail Jack Wetherson at: jack@asgsports.com for an application. Coaches must report to the facility at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with a soccer ball, and be prepared to participate in field activities for a portion of each day.

There will be a tactics course offered to those coaches who already have their D license or an equivalent.  Graham Ramsey will be the instructor.  This is a great course for those coaches coaching 11 v 11 teams.  This year’s course will concentrate on attacking situations in or near the penalty box.  The dates are January 1, 2, and 3, 2004 at St. James School near Hagerstown.  The cost is $160.00.  If interested email David Ward for more information.

Middletown will be hosting an F license course on March 13, 2004.  More info on this course to follow.

Field Maintance:  (David Ward) You may notice some new grass growing on the upper and lower soccer fields.  There was a bunch of seed put down and it’s coming up great.  Please stay off the soccer fields until further notice.  David also took a trip to Oakdale and fertilized both fields there.  The only big thing left to do before the snow falls is remove the rest of the compost from the parking lot and finish the U-8 field.  Look for a note from David Ward early December.  This project will need about 8 helping hands to complete.   If you are interested please email David Ward.

Newsletter update/status:  (Carole Thompson) The next newsletter will be sent out to the members in December.  Coaches - if you haven’t yet please email your season summary to David Ward no later then November 30, 2003.  It would be great to hear from all the coaches.

Fall Tournaments (FCYSL and MAYAA U8):  (David Ward) Congratulations to our U-14 D1 girls team coached by Paul Young - first place.  Congratulation also goes out to our U-12 D1 girls team coached by Al Selwyn - co-champions with GVAA.

Indoor Soccer: (David Ward) The first session of indoor soccer is underway.  If you are still interested in playing for the second session, which starts early January, now is the time to register.  There was a recommendation from some coaches that the Germantown facility is a great place to play.  The cost per session per team is $625.00.  This cost is not covered by the USA.  There is no Association-organized registration for indoor soccer - it is up to each individual team to register.

Fall season postmortem: (All) Bob Hajjar had some feed back that some families have concerns about playing away from Urbana Park.  David reminded everyone that the fields at Urbana Park should be ready to play on for the spring season.  However, there will still be teams practicing at other various locations.  This is necessary due to the number of players and teams.

FASA Update:  (Donna Pike) As friends of FASA the FASA coaches will come to Urbana Park to put on some clinics for both coaches and players.  David will get back to Donna on some open dates in March.

In-person registration dates:  (Karen Selwyn) Karen Selwyn along with some help will be at the Urbana Fire Hall (side entrance)l on January 17 and January 24, 2004 from 9:00-12:00 for in-erson registration.

First aid/CPR course:  (David Ward) David will set up a date in February for coaches interested in taking the first aid/CPR course offered by the American Red Cross.  Some coaches took this class two years ago and need renewal.  This will also be open to new coaches.  Look for an email from David Ward and sign up.

UK Elite Camp for Summer 2004:  (Donna Pike) Donna Pike has agreed to be the contact person between the Uk Elite and the USA.  Donna will contact Steve Roper from the UK Elite.  The camp will be held at Urbana Park the week of July 5th, 2004.  There was a discussion on getting the UK Elite more involved in the advertising for this camp along with maybe offering something back to the USA.  Donna will contact Steve Roper on this.

New Business:  (All) There will be no December meeting the next meeting will be on Wednesday January 21, 2004 at Ijamsville Methodist Church.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40pm.
