Minutes for the Urbana Soccer Association meeting
April 17, 2007 at the Urbana Regional Public Library
Attendance: Dave Ward, Harry Hurst, Al Selwyn, Herbert Avila, Mark Keating, Andy Keen, Clif Carey
The meeting was called to order at 7:25p
1) The minutes from the March 2007 meeting were approved without change.
2) Registrars Report (Karen Selwyn):
a) Passed: Limit playing up to players who are within 1 year of the age group minimum age. Will require adjusting age options on the electronic registration to limit to a 1-year move (out of the regular range).
3) Treasurers Report (Herbert Avila):
a) Operational fund has $26,821, Field fund in unchanged from March at ______
b) The forms for Not-for-Profit status have arrived and are starting to be filled in.
4) VP’s Report (Harry Hurst):
a) Received a letter from Earl Eyler about sharing at Urbana Park
b) Upper field coaches are instructed to leave room for softball practices/games on Saturdays and weekdays as much as possible
c) Upper field coaches are instructed to remove the portable goals away from the Baseball fields at the end of practices.
5) Secretary report (Clif Carey): Hello
6) Coaches Education (Dave Ward):
a) Coaches should be receiving “The Coaches Connection” (t-shirt, etc) in the mail
b) National Youth License is available May 29-June 3 (great for U8-U12)
c) F-license on April 22 in Williamsport (fully subscribed)
d) E-License Aug 25/26 in Walkersville sponsored by FCYSL
7) Equipment (Herbert Avila):
a) Ordering more paint
8) Merchandise (Harry Hurst):
a) Merchandise has been delivered to all coaches for players who have ordered.
b) Email Mr. Hurst if you are missing an order or if merchandise has not been delivered.
9) Field maintenance (Harry Hurst):
a) Mid Atlantic Turf Inc has given quotes for the Urbana Upper/Lower fields rehabilitation
i) $16,371 total for upper and lower fields.
b) All fields will be closed on June 4 until July 30. If you need to practice use Urbana Elementary School
10) Game Days: Decided not to reschedule the rained-out Dutch 4 v 4 day this spring.

13) Soccer Camps: Local soccer camps this summer that Urbana Soccer Association recommends:
a) Frederick County Soccer Camp at Urbana High School (formerly South County Soccer Camp) -June 18-22, 8am-12noon, for players entering grades 1-9.
b) UKElite Soccer Camp -July 9-13, 5:30-8:30pm, for ages 5-14 yrs.
c) Kick-Off Week - mandatory for U10/12/14 - July 30-Aug. 3, for Urbana Soccer Association players: U10's 6-8pm, U12's 5:30-8:30, U14's 5:30-8:30..
14) Coaches Game and Picnic: historically Sunday of Memorial Day weekend – looking for volunteers to host.

18) New Business:
a) Will rope off one side of the Kick Wall to allow grass to grow for a season, and will check to see if this can be included in the summer rehabilitation of the pitches program
b) Be aware that Main Street in Mt. Airy will be closed to traffic for Mt. Airy Day – thus you will need to discover another route to any games in Mt. Airy .
