Minutes for the Urbana Soccer Association meeting

 

February 19, 2009 at the Urbana Regional Library (Frederick County Public Libraries does not promote or endorse the views of the program sponsors or presenters.)

 

 

Attendance:  David Ward, David Grimaldi, Herbert Avila, Anh-Tuan Nguyenkhoa, William Coppit, Quentin Davis, Peter Dhima, John Garza, Rod McNiff, Jose Medrano, Ralph Sherrill, Jim Strnisha

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:25P.

 

1. Minutes Approval (All)

  • Approved last meeting’s


2. Registrar's Report (David W.)

  • Terri L. is not coming back
  • David W. will handle the work
  • 390+ players - Down in U6, U10; 40+ from Spring 2008
  • Need one U10C coach; other age groups are fine
  • Waivers in packet; must return forms for U10+ age groups; hold for U6, U8


3. Treasurer's Report (Herbert)

  • Refunded David W. for advance on field maintenance


4. VP's Report (Harry)

  • Nothing to report


5. Secretary's Report (Anh-Tuan)

  • Nothing to report


6. Coaches Education (David W.)

  • March - Calvert County for Youth Modules; nothing available locally
  • David W. will renew Coaches Connection memberships


7. Equipment Report (David W.)

  • Ordered stuff available weekend of 2/28-3/1


8. Merchandise (Harry)

  • David W. – hold off purchasing additional gear until FCF<> USA decision


9. Field Maintenance (David W.)

  • Baseball tourney at end of June on upper field; seed the lower field in early June


10. Parks/Rec Indemnification Agreement (David W.)

  • Form required so we don't need to do Parks/Rec waivers
  • Indemnification Agreement was accepted by acclimation.



11. Jose Medrano D License Waiver (Board)

  • Jose is out of country for the upcoming D
  • Approved by the board

 

12. Sportsmanship Problems and Solutions (David W.)

  • 2 Red cards [1 coach, 1 player] in Fall 2008; first ever
  • All U8+ coaches must go to FCYSL sportsmanship
  • U8 parent behavior form (for entire Double Nickel League)
  • Two sportsmanship parents from each team who must also go to the class (and are sportsmanship liaisons for that team).

 

13. Spring 2009 Budget (David W.)

  • Collective board - budget reviewed
  • Budget approved with ammendments
    • Defer field maintenance item into Fall 2009 budget; review in April 2009
    • Adjust Mid-Atlantic tournament funding to match BASC fee; team parents to fund balance

14. Goal Moving (David W.)

  • Saturday February 28 @ 2:00P
  • Always in need of volunteers to help

 

15. FC Frederick (David W.)

  • Merger approved pending 2 contingents
    • Fee for recreation players set at $150 - FCF agreed
    • 3 board members - FCF agreed to 2 in order to have odd total for voting
    • Pending final discussion with both boards [all members]
  • Local [recreational] program will play in FCYSL
  • Travel program will play all over – state, regional, etc.

 

16. Washington Freedom (Marc Dombek) - Was not able to attend


17. DC United (Dan Giffin) - Was not able to attend


18. MANDATORY U8+ Coaches Meeting - Tuesday March 17 @ 7:15P, Urbana Regional Library

 

19. Dutch 4v4 - Saturday March 28

 

20. Play Day Games - Sunday March 29

 

21. New business (All)

  • Herbert A. - should USA consider use of fields behind UHS
  • David W. - UHS fields still need a lot more work; new district park will be available about same time
  • Board to review field situation again in April 2009


22. The meeting was adjourned at 8:55P.
