Urbana Soccer Association Monthly Meeting

Attendees: David Ward, Harry Hurst, Karen Selwyn, Al Selwyn, Sean Lee
USA President David Ward called the meeting to order at 7:40pm.
Minutes: The October meeting minutes were approved by Al Selwyn and seconded by Karen Selwyn.
Registrar’s Report: (Karen Selwyn): On-line spring ‘07 registration will open January 1. Automatic $20 discount for returning players (uniform fee). Replacement uniforms will be included in “merchandise” section. Flyers to go out in schools. Mail hardcopy of flyers to everyone on association address list. All spring registration will be done ON-LINE. No more open registration – add help hotline number to flyers. Waivers will be the responsibility of the individual coaches. David will print two copies from on-line registration - originals stay with coaches, copy to Karen.
Treasurers Report: (David representing Herbert Avila): There is $200.33 in the Operating Budget. The Field Fund has $301.08. $1100 still outstanding (sponsorship checks, Parks and Rec money, etc…) Herbert will be looking into “not for profit” status.
Vice President’s Report: (Harry Hurst): Meeting next Wednesday for Parks and Rec. Forms need to be out to UES and WKMS for field usage by end of December. Need to reserve WKMS from 9 – 12 on Saturday mornings in the spring. Reserve fields for Playday/Dutch 4v4
Secretary’s Report: (Sean Lee): Sean to step down, need to find secretary. Interested persons should email David at david.ward@jdsu.com.
Coaches Education: (David Ward): U10/U12 D1 coaches require ‘E’ license. U14 D1 coaches require ‘D’ license. Numerous local courses are available. Go to www.msysa.org for details.
Equipment: (Herbert Avila): Repair and pressure treat shooting walls.
Merchandise - (Harry Hurst): Pictures of merchandise to be added on Urbana Soccer website. Dave to add link in on-line registration to Urbana Soccer website.
Field Maintenance: (David Ward): WKMS has been vertadrained, limed and fertilized. Urbana park has been vertadrained and fertilized. Spring 2007 – WKMS will be fertilized again; Urbana Park will receive topdress (sand & top soil), Bermuda seed and fertilizer. To pay for Urbana Park overhauls, more money will need to be raised (estimated around $15,000) – Add itional $5,000 to $7,000 will be needed – BOD voted in favor of a $10 increase (from $5 to $15) to field fund fees to begin effective Spring 2007.
UES Silent Auction: (Karen): Donate merchandise “package” – Harry to gather together package.
Tournament Results: (David Ward): No trophies this time for Urbana Soccer but hopefully all enjoyed their end-of-season tournament.
Pentaleague Comments: (All): We are trying to address problems our youngest teams have with competing against the other teams in the Pentaleague. Working on increasing the number of organizations in the Pentaleague so we can split into two divisions as well as investigating joining up with LUYAA in a similar arrangement.
FCYSL Comments: (All): Mostly positive comments on this past Fall season.
New Business: (All): No December meeting.
Al will look into getting a meeting room at the Urbana Library for future meetings.
