Minutes – January 15, 2008 Meeting

In attendance were the following:

1. Minutes Approval
No November meetings submitted.

2. Registrar's Report
Welcome to Terri LaBonte who will be taking over from Karen Selwyn as our registration coordinator. Leslie Wagner will be helping Terri distribute flyers (mailed to past players and distributed to schools). We can not get flyers to the elementary schools as we missed their deadline. Please pass the word that registration is open.

Waivers will be mailed to the parents of registered parents and must be returned to Terri or turned in at the first practice. PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE UNTIL BOTH THEIR MEDICAL WAIVER AND THEIR PARKS/REC WAIVER HAVE BEEN TURNED IN.

Spring 2008 registration remains open until February 1. There are currently 128 players registered.

3. Treasurer's Report
Operational fund has $5,125. Field fund has $301. Audit of Spring 2007/Fall 2007 was successful. There were some minor data entry errors. Checks from FCYSA have not been cashed. There was also a mistake in the amount of money available at the start of the Fall 2007 budget due to payment of the June field maintenance. This mistake has now been rectified.

4. VP's Report
Harry has submitted field usage/insurance forms to both UES and WKMS. David will submit forms to UES for UK Elite camp in July as well as for Kickoff Week.

David attended the December Parks/Rec meeting. They have modified their field reservation priority list but it shouldn’t affect us. Parks/Rec is now requiring schedules and rosters from the previous season for each reservation. David has submitted all of the necessary forms (a lot of paperwork).

5. Secretary's Report
Not present.

6. Coaches Education
D license class in Columbia 2/15-17 and 2/22-24. Go to
www.msysa.org to register.

7. Equipment Report
David will take over equipment from Herbert for Spring 2007. David has retrieved returned equipment from the shed and Herbert has transferred all current inventory.

8. Merchandise
Harry will keep tabs on ordered merchandise and order as necessary. Orders will be distributed once practices start in March.

9. Field Maintenance
Grass seeding at UPK and WKMS was successful. Both Upper and Lower fields have done fairly well given the very cold November. Hopefully, the grass will survive our practices in March.

In June, we will plan to fertilize/aerate WKMS, fertilize/aerate UPK Upper, fertilize/aerate/organics/seed ( Bermuda ) UPK Lower.

10. Spring 2008 Budget
David presented the draft Spring 2008 budget. Dave Grimaldi suggested doing background checks on new coaches/assistants and that was added and the budget approved unanimously.

11. Urbana ES Silent Action
Contact information was given to Harry. We will give UES some Urbana Soccer merchandise to sell at the silent auction.

12. NSCAA Convention
Convention is this coming Thursday-Sunday in Baltimore . Dave Grimaldi will be there (probably on Thursday). David Ward will be there on Saturday.

13. New business
If anyone has information on the new building that is starting on Route 80 next to (east of) the Highlands, please let David (
david.ward@jdsu.com) know. Builders have been good sponsors in the past. And, if we could get a little practice field built there … (well, we can always hope).
