Minutes – July 18, 2006 Meeting

In attendance were the following:

1.         Minutes Approval: Minutes from the June meeting were approved (motion by Karen, seconded by Herbert)

2.         Registrar's Report: Online registration has gone well with just a few kinks. 12 players are currently on the waiting list. Approximately 440 players have registered. Roster packets should be available to coaches on Monday. Still need one U12G coach and one U14G coach.

3.         Treasurer’s Report: We currently have a balance of $49,236 in the Operation Fund; $8,866 in the Field Fund. Paid ½ of the fee to Mid-Atlantic Turf for the resurfacing of the two WKMS fields.

4.         Vice-President’s Report: Need to get next year’s (9/1/06-8/31/07) registration form to WKMS. Harry will call MSYSA to get the form with the proper additional insured wording.

5.         Secretary’s Report: Not present

6.         Coaches Education:
’C’ – July 31 – August 6 Germantown Soccerplex (David is attending)
’E’ – August 26,27 Heritage Far m Park (Walkersville)
FCYSL Sportsmanship Class – August 16 7:30 Myersville ES and also on August 26 10:00 Myersville ES.

U8 Coaches meeting July 25 7:30 Urbana Park Pavilion

U10 Coaches meeting July 27 7:30 Urbana Park Pavilion

MANDATORY COACHES MEETING – Thursday 8/24 7:30 Urbana Park Pavilion

7.         Equipment Report: Equipment is on order. Will be distributed the last week of July/1st week of August. New coaches will have priority.

8.         Merchandise: $2,453 ordered during registration. Jackets and sweatshirts are ordered. Backpacks are ordered and should be ready on Sept. 1. Merchandise will be distributed to coaches to give to players.

9.         Field Maintenance:
Goal moving/field setup – 7/29 or 30
FC Frederick may line our fields if they use them for their Scrimmage Fest tournament.
WKMS resurfacing (fields 1 and 2) – during first 3 weeks in September

10.     U10 Fall 2006 Kick-Off Week: July 31-August 4 5:00-8:00 Urbana ES. We currently have 67 players registered.

11.     Coaches Jackets: Will be given to Herbert and Sean Lee.

12.     McSoccerFest 2006: Harry entered 3 teams. Herbert entered 1 team and played in the adult division.

13.     PentaLeague: PentaLeague meeting on Wed. at 8:00. Herbert and David will attend.

14.     Fall 2006 Play Days:
Saturday 8/26 Dutch 4v4 Tournament at Urbana Park. U8s at 10:00, U10s at 12:00, U12s at 2:00, U14s at 4:00 and Open at 6:00.

Sunday 8/27 – Play Day at Urbana Park. All teams will play 3 or 4 half-length games. U8s will play games in the PentaLeague (5v5) style. Rest will play per FCYSL rules. David will distribute schedule.

15.     Summer Soccer Pick-up Games:
Mondays – adult and youth
Tuesdays – high school

Monday 7/24 will be the last for the youth.
Monday 8/28 will be the last for the adults.
Tuesday 8/8 will be the last for the high schoolers.

Monday and Tuesday practices on the Upper Field will need to be over by 7:15 until the soccer pick-up games have ended.

16.     Summer Soccer Camps: UK Elite camp was held July 10-14 at Urbana ES.

17.     Volunteers:
Uniforms Coordinator – Kelly Dingee
Pictures Coordinator – Terri Sun
Participation Awards Coordinator – Kim Goldstein
One U12G and one U14G coaching position open.

18.     New Business: Al spoke with Bob Hajjar about joining the Urbana Rec. Council. Al will get a copy of their bylaws to see if this is possible.

Baltimore Blast contacted Harry about organizing outings, games, etc.
