Urbana Soccer Association Monthly Meeting

Attendees: David Ward, Harry Hurst, Herbert Avila, Tony Reed, Sean Lee
USA President David Ward called the meeting to order at 7:35pm.
Minutes: The September meeting minutes were approved by Herbert Avila and seconded by Sean Lee.
Registrar’s Report: (David Ward in Lieu of Karen Selwyn): - Discussion about mailing flyers to all returning players in the spring (no envelope, just label on front of flyer).
Treasurers Report: (Herbert Avila): There is $8474.27 in the Operating Budget. The Field Fund has $671.08. Herbert to investigate “not for profit” status – Kathy Davis.
Vice President’s Report: (Harry Hurst): Nothing to report.
Secretary’s Report: (Sean Lee): Nothing to report.
Coaches Education: (David Ward): “D” at the end of December. Post Mortem meetings U6/U8/U10 first couple weeks of November. Need someone (e.g. director of coaching) to push the buttons for furthering our coaches education; certification classes, clinics, training. Possibly host state license and NSCA classes located in Urbana .
Equipment: (Herbert Avila): Need to start gathering equipment back.
Merchandise - (Harry Hurst): Nothing to report.
Field Maintenance: (Rod McNiff/David Ward): Grass is growing at WNMS! Need to keep off it through at least March. Goal moving/Field clean-up preliminarily scheduled for 11/11 or 11/12. Parks and Recreation will replace a damaged Kwik goal net. Josh Cox cleared 20 yards behind fence line. Should probably do this maintenance regularly.
Frederick County youth Day at Hood College : Sunday 10/22 at Hood College , free for everyone. Free clinic. Hood soccer game at 1:00PM - looking for ball boys/girls.
Uniforms: (Kelly): Great job Kelly.
Tournaments: (David Ward) – FCYSL – All U10 & older (November 4/5 and/or maybe November 11/12). Urbana will at least host U10 Coed D1 and possibly other U10 divisions. Schedules are due out no later than 10/25. MAYAA U8 tournament (November 11th).
Participation Awards: (Kim) – Trophies due last weekend in October
Pictures: (Terri) – Pictures are in, they will be in the shed on 10/18
Sports Day at Urbana Library Opening: (David) – 11/7 – FCPL asking if USA wants to sponsor a clinic, workshop, show a movie and/or provide a demonstration. David to respond to FCPL.
New Business: (All) Nothing
