Urbana Soccer Association Merges with FC Frederick!!!

Exciting News - The Urbana Soccer Association and FC Frederick have agreed to a merger starting with the Fall 2009 season. This merger will create Frederick County's only youth soccer club that has offerings for players of all ages and ALL skill levels from those just starting with soccer to the very best players playing in our area's elite leagues - WAGS and NCSL. The merged club will be comprised of over 1,000 tremendous soccer players.

For current Urbana Soccer players, the merged club will provide a great opportunity for our most skilled players to seamlessly move to travel teams. Our U6s, U8s and U9s will be included in FC Frederick's leading-edge Academy program. Our U10s, U12s, U14s and U19s will continue to play in FCYSL, but will get the benefit of a Director of Coaching responsible for improving the coaching level available to all of those age groups. That's a lot of positives for our children. Plus, we will maintain Urbana Soccer's dedication to creating a fun-filled soccer environment - regardless of soccer skill level.

There is a lot of excitement about the merger - from players, coaches and Board members all the way to the coaching staffs of both the Boys and Girls Urbana High School teams. Although we will say goodbye to the Urbana Soccer Association name and our great logo, we will be saying hello to the dawning of a new era in Frederick County soccer.

The merged FC Frederick club is comprised of four main programs- the FCF Academy Program (U6, U8, U9, U10, U11 and U12), the Classic Program (U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19), the Juniors Travel Program (U13 and U14) and the Seniors Travel Program (U15, U16, U17 and U19). For U6, U8 and U9, all players train and play together in the Academy Program setting. When Academy players reach the U10 age group, they will have to make a decision - stay in the Academy Program and play on travel teams or move to the Classic Program and play on FCYSL teams. The travel teams are essentially what FC Frederick was prior to the merger. The Classic teams are essentially what Urbana Soccer was prior to the merger. Every season, players will be able to move from the Classic Program to the Travel Program and vice versa.
